Yamid Márquez nació el 02 08 de 1981 en un municipio de el departamento de caldas Pensilvania caldas. Hijo de padres campesinos y humildes, fue criado en el municipio de Samaná donde paso su juventud para luego se trasladarse a Florencia, Caldas.

De allí partió a Nariño, donde empezó con un grupo musical su carrera, aunque ya desde su niñez compartía con su padre las parrandas y toques. Los rancheros así se llamaba el grupo donde tuvo la oportunidad de darse conocer por muchas regiones y darse a conocer como compositor.

La agrupación “Los Rancheros” le abrió las puertas, pero 5 años más tarde esta se desintegro pero los sueños de ser un gran cantautor no, fue así como empezó a recorrer caminos participando y ganando varios concursos de música popular en municipios de Caldas como Manzanares Y Samaná entre otros.
Así empezó a grabar sus primeros temas como solista, tales como ‘La Guardaespaldas’ ‘Pobre Diablo’ entre otros, cogiendo fuerza y siendo reconocido como compositor. En el año 2008 conoció Al príncipe Carlos, un joven talento de la música popular que se interesó por sus composiciones.

Empezó a darse conocer como compositor y a han gravado sus obras musicales muchos artistas nuevos del genero con el príncipe empezaron a promocionar sus nuevos trabajos musicales donde se destacan temas como tres palabras, amor de calle, y nadie me manda, tema que aportara a su carrera el compositor Argimiro Jaramillo.

Yamid Márquez no se ha detenido a pesar de no contar con una situación económica estable, pero los sueños y ganas lo han ayudado a ser un personaje reconocido para muchos en la música popular actual. Escribe para artistas como el príncipe Carlos, los caballeros de la cantina, pensando también en proyectos que ya se están desarrollando.
